From Acts of Parliament published by command of his Majesty, we have that the name of this Parish was changed from Cadzow to Hamilton, by virtue of a charter granted by James II of Scotland, to James, first Lord Hamilton. The Parish of Hamilton is situated in the middle ward of Lanarkshire (of which the town of Hamilton is the capital.)
