The Caledonian Railway (Hamilton Branch) runs through the south west of it. The Eaglesham & Glasgow T.P. Road bounds it south west extremity. The Bothwell Road & the River Clyde its north & east. It is the property of the Duke of Hamilton.
GREAT AVENUE [Hamilton Palace] 011.16 The continuation of a long avenue of fine elm trees, which begins at Chatelherault, & runs in a straight line to the South side of Hamilton Palace, from the north side of which to where they end, in Bothwell Parish, is styled "Great North Avenue." The space between the trees is ornamental ground. The "Great Avenue", from Chatelherault to the south side of the Palace, is broken where it should pass through the Lands of Barncluith.
