Lanarkshire -- Hamilton Palace

Cadzow Castle (continued) - The thick walls shewn on Trace are, upon the authorities quoted, supposed to be the remains of the Chapel. Between the Chapel & the south west corner of the ruins, and along the south, there are some remains of the fosse. The Keep is also to be seen on the south side. The outline of two round towers may be traced at the south west, & east corners. All the ruins east of the Chapel are covered with earth, scattered stones, & trees. There are several underground rooms, or vaults, one of the latter leads to the Well, which is in good preservation but filled with rubbish to within 8 or 10 feet of the top. This well resembles the one at Bothwell Castle.

Transcriber's notes
