006.15 A public park being the most extensive in the city, finely situated on the north bank of the Clyde. It is tastefully laid out in [French ?] walks, having in some places rows of stately trees. A carriage drive surrounds it whose circuit is about 2 1/2 miles.
In it stands Nelson's Monument of which (see description) and the Humane Society House etc.
NELSON'S MONUMENT Nelson's Monument Mr Simpson 006.15 This monument was erected in 1806 as a tribute to the memory of Lord nelson. It is an obelisk that rises to the height of 144 feet. On the 4 sides of its base are sculptured the names of his greatest battles.
