017.15 | This Farm Steading is built upon the lands of "Burn", a property which is now divided among three persons. The other two Farm Steadings (Trace 2. xxiii-3) bear the name "Burn" without any distinction except that of the occupiers' names. "Burn is generally known as the name of this steading, & is given by the Proprietor for sake of distinction, although his [Carts] & the last two [authorities] give it as "Burn" only. On [my] first inquiry the proprietor gave the distinction "East" but afterwards changed it to the well known name "Burnbank". |
