016.04 This is an eminence about 14 chains north of the village of East Kilbride, it got the name from a market being held on it at a time the plague raged in Glasgow. The neighbouring farmers afraid of catching the infection would not venture nearerto the City withtheir marketable goods which caused the inhabitants of Glasgow to resort to this temporary market, which was held twice a week, this gave rise to the name which still continues.
