018.10 | The principal village in Dalserf Parish, situated close to the parish boundary adjoining Hamilton Parish, and having a few of the houses in Hamilton. There is a quoad sacra parish attached to Larkhall; The church is in the south of the village, at "Gallowhill", beside this church, there is a place of worship belonging to the United Presbyterians, in "Wellgate Street". There are two schools, one of them endowed the other is an adventure school. A large subscription school is about to be erected but the site is not yet fixed upon. The sheets are named, but with one exception, are not Comen Ticketed, there are no gas lamps in the sheets. Gas is used in every houseand as far as "Pleasance".Trace 5, there are but two Smithies in Larkhall. |
