018.16 "In removing a tumulus a few years ago at Dalpatrick, the workmen came upon a stone coffin about two feet and a half long, composed of flag stones in which an urn was deposited, in the coffin some human bones were found".
New Statistical Account.
This tumulus was destroyed by the present farmer of Dalpatrick - Mr William Henderson, who found the stone coffin and urn alluded to in New Statistical Account.
It was, before it was destroyed, composed of stones like a cairn.
The site of it is well known.
The ground at the place is slightly elevated, but too near a level with the surrounding ground to admits of it being shewn as a slope. A large tree stands near the centre of where the
