018.10 A neat and superior Cottage about 5 chains from the south west and of the houses in "Crossgates Street". It is occupied by the Revd. J. Shearer, U.P.Church Incumbent, who rents it from the proprietor - A. Hamilton of Highlees. The minister has occupied it for upwards of 20 years,and although it is not the property of the United Presbyterians, the people has by custom, established "U.P.Manse" as a manse, which is now generally recognised and will in all likelyhood be used for the future.
