is still standing a portion of earth-work about 4 feet high and 6 feet broad at the base, this is part of the ovate formation mentioned and what Mr Gladstone thinks is part of a camp; Mr Sim of Coulter Mains a local antiquary says that he has heard mention of a camp at this place, but is not certain about the locality. Mr Dicksonof Hartree, the proprietor of the ground, says that he distinctly remembers the plant[ation] at this place, but can not say whether the formation mentioned, was made for protecting the trees or was there before the ground was planted.
