There is a Camp on the West end of White Hill and Mr Sim a local antiquary thinks the word Caer is derived from this. 'Caer and Car are derived from the British caer or the Gaelic Cathair, which is pronounced Cair; signifying a wall, or mound for defence, a fortified place' (Chamber's Cal [Caledonia] Vol 1 P 28) |
