CHAPEL (Site of) [Kirk Burn] Site of Chapel, Chapel, Kirk in ruins James Martin M.D. (Leadhills), Chalmers Caledonia (Vol 3) Co. Map (Forest's). 046.08 "On the north west part of the parish of Crawford there was before the reformation a chapel which was probably erected by the monks of Newbattle, the ruins of this Chapel are still extant." Chalmers. Near the junction of the Kirk Gill with Glengonnar Water there is traceable on the ground what appears to have been a rectangular building of 53 feet by 26, all that remains is apparently the foundation, which is grown over with grass and weeds, and this is considered by the inhabitants in the vicinity to be the remains of a Kirk or Chapel.
