046 A tumulus or mound of earth [having] the shape of a pyramid the base of which is about 50 links square - and its height 5 feet. Tradition points it out as the spot where a Priest was buried who was slain in a marauding expedition. by one of the proprietors of Snar Castle in [Feudal] times.

In modes of spelling name for Martincleuch Burn, the original entries were 'Birkcleuch Burn' and 'Birkcleugh Burn' but these have been crossed out and replaced with 'Martincleuch Burn' and 'Martincleugh Burn' and a note written 'This was a mistake of the examiners'
