There is no entry on either the name or authority but the following note stretches across the page:"In proximity to the tumulus, but a little way to the south and near the margin of the river stood the venerable Tower of Garrion, of late years its antique appearance has been greatly concealed by wooden building which have been erected round it. The date of its erection has not been ascertained. Two things however are certain, it is centuries old and in the days alike of Popery and Prelacy, was the favourite summer residence of the Archbishops of Glasgow" - Historical Sketches of Cambusnethan
