011.05 | The principal village in the parish, lying near the north western boundary & chiefly occupied by colliers and weavers. It was formerly called Bushyhill from a hill which stands on the south side of the village. "Bushyhill" is often applied to the village, but properly it belongs only to the object - the hill shown. The Clydesdale Junction of the Caledonian Railway runs near to the south side of the houses of the village. There is a station at the west end. "Sauchiebog" forms part of the east end of the village, & has gas works in it which supply the village & also Kirkhill. There is a Free Church, a congregational Chapel, an Old Nr P Church, and a subscription school in Cambuslang. The Parish Church and school are in Kirkhill - a village about ΒΌ mile south-east of Cambuslang. The Toll Gate is the eastern extremity of the village. The railway station the western. |
