011.14 | A fenced foot Road formerly the High Road from Glasgow to Hamilton. There used to be stepping stones where the "Ford" is shewn. The Ford is seldom used now, but was formerly the only means of crossing the,"Rotten Calder" when the High Road was used. "The Path" is well known by being by tradition, the Road by which Queen Mary travelled from Hamilton to Cathcart Castle the day previous to the Battle of Langside. There is a well on the other side of the Rotten Calder (Cambuslang) which, according to tradition, the Queen stopped at for a short time, & which now bears the name "Queen Mary's Well". "The Path" is Public. |
