030.06 There was until lately a well here called the Trumpeter's Well, it is now filled up. Tradition says that the Trumpeter belonging to the party under the command of Claverhouse was killed here while his horse was drinking at the well when retreating from Drumclog. The spot where he was buried is yet pointed out by the inhabitants but there is no appearance of a grave.
