A Short Street with a considerable acclivity leading from Mill Road to the end of Church Street. In this street is a Malt Kiln & several private dwellings chiefly occupied by working people.

These buildings consist of five Mills. viz. A corn Mill, A Flour Mill, A Barley Mill, A Malt Mill, A Woollen Mill for Spinning &. carding Wool and fulling cloth. this latter is but a small building. They are all Worked by Water power of which the supply seldom fails. These mills are the public property of the corporation of Dumfries who let them by public Auction generally for a term of 15 years. They are at present occupied by several persons.
