A large hill the most prominent in the locality, it is situated on the road side that leads from Dumfries to Shawhead and about 5 miles from the former. On it is a Trigl [Trigonometrical] Station called by Trigl [Trigonometrical] Party "West Hill". This hill is a prominent part of an irregular range.
