"Druim Fuarow. The hill abounding in springs".
The word Garcrogo is of rather difficult derivation. In its present form it would appear to be from the Gaelic words Garbh Chasige. ie The coarse or rocky place resembling a clumsy paw or literally the ? clumsy paw - NB Near this place is a confluence of streams forming a figure resembling a hand or paw which the name would be very aptly applied by a Gaelic peoples. See plan 24B.
