[North] West sides are defended by a natural barrier of sloping & precipitous rocks, and the W. E. [West East] and N [North] East by two broad stone fences. William Rowan who has lived here this last 40 years, says that it was handed down by tradition from his forefathers who had lived in this locality for the Space of 500 years, that it was erected by the picts as a place of defence. |
