Bombie Castle (site of)----The site of an old castle which was formerly the residence of the McLellans of Bombie
from which they took their title. It is situate upon the top of a precipitous bank on the margin of "Gribdie Burn". Round the South Side of it is the appearance of a trench or fosse
but very much defaced and scarcely visible which by all appearance it seems to have had been a fortified residence--Kirkcudbright--William Geddes
