There is a tradition in this locality that a mansion house in some past ages stood near this place which was the residence of some of the ancestors of the late Broughton Murray M. P. [Member of Parliament] for Kirkcudbrightshire. It was usual to have moats near Baronial Mansions in the Feudal times. |
