A tolerable handsome Mansion (plain rectangular building) built upon the Site of a Priory (see description of St Mary's Isle) The Mansion is Surrounded by pleasantly ornamented grounds and a large demesne well wooded Some of which are full grown & the remainder consists of young plantations. At a short distance from the South of the house is well laid out Gardens both Kitchen & Ornamental. This Mansion is the Seat of the Earl of Selkirk. -
