It is of an eliptical form with its Northern & Western Sides about 12 feet in height, originally it had been used as a place where Courts of Justice were dispensed, it is also traditionally and historically handed down as being the site of an ancient church & grave yard Called Greyfriars and on which Site in 1730 the late Church of Kirkcudbt.
