Kipp or Scar A Small Village Situated on the Margin of the Water of Urr in the Parish of Colvend the tide flows up to the verge of the houses which makes it very healthy. The houses are from one to two Story high chiefly all Slated and in good repair the population of the Village are about 90 persons composed of Fisher Men and Agriculturist and few Ship Carpenters there are two Inns in the Village which affords very good accommodation to Sea bathers who frequent it in the Summer Seasons. It is the property of the poor of the Parish of Caerlaverock the Sum of £900 was left by the late Mr. Hutton for the poor of the parish of Caerlaverock which was his native place he embarked to East or West Indies & made his fortune and having no heir to inherit his fortune he bequeathed it to the poor of the parish.
