A large ancient Camp, upon Dunguile Hill, it is about 180 links in diameter & on the South and East is a parapet about 2 feet in height, and on the North & East by a natural bank, which inclines from the top outward , on it Trig: [Trigonometrical] ◬ called by Trig: [Trigonometrical] party"Dungyle".

"Of the numerous remains of the hill forts of that ancient people which are found in this district the most remarkable is situated upon the hill of Dungyle near the ruins of Gelston Kirk it is of the usual circumference and surrounded with three ramparts of stones mixed with earth. At a little distance there is a smaller one fortified in the same way. The former is 47 & the latter 68 paces in diameter" -
