MOAT (ancient) Moat (ancient) Ainslies Map of Kirkcudbrightshire dated 1797
John Brown Lochdougan Via Gelston
045 This like other moats appears to be part natural & part artificial . The west side & part of the top is rocky the East side appears to have been assisted by art as it is erected with small stones but as several Cart loads have been carried away & the place so very much defaced it is hard to say what it has been on the N.W. [North West] side there appears something liKe an artificial Cut . It is on the farm of Meikle Lochdougan
