Tradition says it received its name from the following circumstance - A gentleman promised as a dowry to a lady, as much land as could be seen from a certain point on his property. He brought her to this place, and as the depth of the hollow is considerable nothing could be seen but itself. |

010.10 | A small but very conspicuous Knoll situated at the point where the road crossing Cairn o' Mount branches off to Cuttieshillock and Bogendreep. A depression on the summit divides the Knoll into two small tops, and tradition says that a man was hung in chains on the west and smallest of the two for the murder of a pedlar in the vicinity. The spot where the murder was commited can still be pointed out. |
