026.08 A small village situated on the River North Esk, 4 miles from Laurencekirk, and 6 from the town of Montrose. The houses are generally one storey, partly slated, and partly thatched, and in good repair. It contains the parish Church, a post office, public house, and a school for the education of females. 026.08 A Small Circular Pillar about 3 feet high placed on a rectangle of about 2 ft 6 in by 2 feet, it Stands in a Corner in front of the Public House where it was placed Some years ago when it was found in the Church yard. It is said to be part of the ancient cross the exact Site of which is not known.
