012.15 During the year 1844 when the persons named in margin were removing a tree they found under the roots a large Urn composed of burnt clay and containing a large quantity of Charred Bones and ashes. The Urn was devoid of ornament but well shaped, and measured about 15 Inches deep, 7 Inches in diameter across the mouth, and 12 Inches in diameter at the greatest bulge. The Urn was found on a rising ground at the west side of the Cowie Water about 1/4 of a mile West from Ury House and immediately north of the nursery. The late Captain Barclay ordered the Urn and its contents to be buried, but the exact place is not known. B. Render Corpl. R.E. [Corporal Royal Engineers]. See Sketch.
