020.01 | Auchinblae a village with a post office having two deliveries during the day; first 7.30 A.m. and 3.30 P.m.1st departure 11 A.m. 2nd departure 7.30 P.m. It stands on a gentle rising ground washed by the rivulet Luther. Amid the beautiful scenery of Strathfinella, situated 5 1/2 miles N.N.E. [North North East ] of Laurencekirk 11 miles S.W. [South West] of Stonehaven and 16 miles N [North] of Montrose. The village contains many substantial houses, and has a very clean, cheerful and prosperous appearance; It contains a Spinningmill, Gasworks, Free Church and School, two Inns, two Public houses, Police Station, two banking offices, namely, North of Scotland, and City of Glasgow the latter carries on business for the Inland Revinue, Stamps, Taxes, and Northern fire and life assurance Company.
