It is one entire mass of Sandstone, and is perfectly isolated, being separated from the Grampians by the narrow valley of Strathfinella, in some places scarcely 100 yards wide, its extreme length or base is about 4 miles, its breadth about 1 1/4 miles. The outline is tame and unbroken, and its elevation above the sea does not exceed 1000 or 1200 feet." 019.04 | This name applies to a narrow valley situated between Strathfinella Hill and the Grampian Mountains, and extending from near the Clattering Bridge to the end of the Drumtochty Plantations near Auchinblae. Part of the Strath is known as Glen of Drumtochty which may be considered as a Minor name applying to that part of the Strath in which the ornamental grounds of Drumtochty Castle is situated. B. R. |
