023.06 A name given to an extensive Moss or Peat Bog. It is a "Common Moss", each of the adjoining proprietors having a Share in it, and their respective Tenants have the right of cutting Peats, patches of it along the margin are being continually brought under cultivation, This is spoken of by the people in the neighbourhood as the "Moss", or the "Common Moss", also as "Eslie Moss". Mr Mathewson the Earl of Kintore's Factor Says that "Eslie Moss" is the Proper name, and it is So written on the Earl's papers. The name applies to the whole of the ground etched as moorland on Plans 023.06 and 023.10.
