019.15 This Burn for a great distance forms the Boundary between the Parishes of Fettercairn & Fordoun. It is formed by the United waters of East Burn of Cardowan and West Burn of Cardowan (Plan 019.6) where it takes the name of Burn of Garrol, and is known by this name to Craigmoston Bridge, (Plan 019.14) from this point to its junction with the Fettercairn Burn, it is known as Craigmoston Burn, (Plan 023.3) from the last named junction to the point where the Stream joins the Luther Water it is known by the name of Dourie Burn. Sir John S. Forbes states that this name is often Spoken as Craigniston, pronounced (Crannieston) but he says that Craigmoston is the name in Title Deeds, and is the proper name.
