019.10 An elegant and commodious Mansion built partly in the Castellated Style and containing all the improvements of a Modern Mansion, it is the residence of Sir Thomas Gladstone, Bart. [Baronet]. It is reported traditionally that the name originated during the Feudal times, when the proprietor of the Estate dwelt near to Balbegno Castle, and being at Feud with the Laird of Balbegno, and within Shot of the Castle they were continually annoyed by Missiles Missiles etc from Balbegno, and being the weaker party their proximity to the Castle was anything but Comfortable So they removed to near where the present House Stands and in the language of that day Said, "Fasgadh is Sinn", we are sheltered, or we are protected. The present name is pronounced by the old people as Fasqy, but by the proprietor as Fask. The Building is all modern.
