Revd. [Reverend] James Duirs, Durris Mr. George Gerrard, Drumallan Cottage Mr. John Gordon, Forrester, Boamsbank |
006.04 | A stone in the River Dee, situated about 13 chains north from Park Bridge, - Tradition reports that during a feud between the Irvines of Drum, and Keiths of Dunnottar a cadet of the Keith family fell in love with a lady of the Irvine family, and having been discovered by the Irvines while paying a stolen visit to his Sweetheart, he was chased to the River Dee, into which he plunged and swam to the stone, and while resting upon it, was shot by the Irvines - thus firing it the name of Keith Stone. |
