005.12 | A small spring well on the east side of Arbeadie Cottage and on the track of the old turn-pike road. From Statistical Account, P. 323. "Ternan, or Tarnan, by which this parish is distinguished from one near it of the same name, is derived from St. Terne or Ternanus, who, according to Fordun, the Breviary of Aberdeen, and other Authorities, flourished about A. D. [Anno Domini] 440. Usher, however, places his era subsequent to A.D. [Anno Domini] 684 ......An Annual Fair and a Fountain in this parish still retain his name" |
