James Edwards Mill of Allardice | 021.13 | The only information that can be obtained on this is from James Edwards, Mill of Allardyce, who states that when the field was drained there was found on the hillock as marked 1 on trace several stone coffins which were allowed to remain as found, he does not remember whether any of them were opened. In the old Gravel Pit at place marked 2 on trace there was found a Stone coffin containing pieces of bone and black earth. The coffin was removed but the hole in the side of the Pit which contained the coffin can still be seen. |
