035 | This name applies to the ruin of a Cross Situated immediately north of Churchtown Bay, & is said to be the first of a semicircular line which extended from here to the Chapel, its present appearance is a block of masonry about four feet square & about three feet high. This is the Cross referred to in Boswell's history of Dr. [Doctor] Johnson's tour in the Western Isles, and one of the eight referred to by Martin as pymarids for deceased ladies. |
