073 Applies to the most Conspicuous part of the Island of Eigg This hill from its peculiar Shape has of a distance a Singular appearance, but as no approach nearer, it rises in Grandeur & at length, a Stupendous Columnar promontory bursts on our view. The Whole of this promontory is perfectly mural extends for upwards of 1 mile, & rises to the height of 1.340 feet This singular piece of natural workmanship lies nearly east & west the east end of which is Situated;- Near the South end of the Island, a mile & three quarters N.W. [North West] of "Castle Island" & one mile West of "Nead na Feannaige"; Signification:- The Sharp Rock.
