A Parish in the Presbytery of Skye, Synod of Glenelg, and forms the South eastern part of the Ish of Skye. The Parish Commences to the north at Kylerhea - a narrow ferry which seperates Skye from the Mainland of Glenelg, and it extends to the South West along the sea, To the north, it is bounded by the Ph. [Parish] of Strath, from which it is divided by a high ridge of hill from Kyle-rhea to Loch in daal, another branch of the sea, called Loch Eishart, comes in from the westward, and is seperated from Loch in-daal by a narrow isthmus about half a mile in breadth - The Ph. [Parish] from Loch in daal forms a peninsula extending westward to the Point of Sleat. Sole proprietor Lord Macdonald, Armadale Castle, which is in this Ph. [Parish]
A portion of this parish Situated on the N.E [North East] side of Loch na Dal is detached from the main portion, which portion is Cut off from the detached part by the Ph. [Parish] of Strath & Loch na Dal. |
