ERD HOUSE [Rosgill] Erd House "New Statistical Account" 1841 021 Is applied to what is supposed to be a very ancient dwelling or hiding place under the ground, it is situate at the brink of a very narrow ravine on the south side of the stream called Rosgill River and adjacent to a very sharp bend on the county road between Kinselroag & Roskhill. The entrance to the above is quite chocked up with loose stones, so that in its present state it could not be explored without a deal of trouble. It is described in the "New Statistical Accounts" 1841 as follows:- "Subterranean dwellings or earth-houses". - "A passage about 3 feet in height, and about the same breadth, roofed by stones laid on as lintels, leads inwards to the distance of 60 or 70 feet, when it opens into what appears to have been a central room of considerable extent, arched (over)
