009 This name signifies knoll of the battle and is applied to a knoll situated at the Southern extremity of the district known as Trumpan. This spot is supposed to be the scene of conflict between the clans Macleods & Macdonalds where the latter were seized with a sudden panic and were completely routed. Mentioned in "Statistical Account" as "Blar Bhatternish" the "battle of Vaternish". No reliable account to be obtained concerning this battle. As it is a mere supposition that a battle was fought here, it is not considered advisable to include this note under this name.
