Carmichael Esq 039 This name signifies "The Morass of Blood" and is applied to a hollow situated a short distance to the north of the Mission Church at Carinish. In 1601 a battle was fought here between the McLeods and McDonalds where the former was routed, their leader and two or three of his men fled and were overtaken and slain on the sand between Carinish and Baleshare.
