035 | Is applied to a large bay entering from the Little Minch, between the headlands on North Uist called Leac a' Mhadaidh and Weavers Point, it runs in a north west direction for a distance of 5 1/2 miles, and affords good anchorage for vessels at all seasons of the year, there being several sheltered and safe anchorage places in the bay. It derives its name from 3 bold rocks which are situate at the entrance called Maddy More Maddy Beg and Maddy Gruamach - Maddy signifies "dog". |
