014 This name is applied to a village of considerable size & composed of good houses, which are chiefly two storeys in height & slated. It is situated near the narrow Isthmus which divides North Harris from South Harris.
PIER [Tarbert] 014 An excellent wooded pier has been lately erected on the shore of East Loch Tarbert adjacent to the village at which steamers call regular. The whole is the property of E. H. Scott Esqr.

Kenneth McDonald Factor Borvemor 014 This school has an average attendance of scholars of boys & girls of 47. They are taught the ordinary branches of the English language &c. It is situated in the village of Tarbert. The building is a substantial stone structure slated and partly occupied by the schoolmaster as a dwelling house. It is supported by the proprietor E. H. Scott Esqr. & is not under the control of the School Board which is elected for the parish.
