010 Is applied to a Conical Shaped Stone about 8 feet in height, and three in diameter at the base, It is situated on the edge of the public Road in front of Megston Inn, The name is derived from the fact, that a woman while visiting this part of the neighbourhood, Some indefinite time ago had died, and it would appear her name was Margaret or Meg according to the Scotch dialeat. The day on which she was to be buried turned out exceedingly stormy, and the funeral party were unable to proceed to the Graveyard, they therefore buried her under where the stone in now placed, hence the name, "Megs Stone" situated on the property of J.Merry esq of Belladrum
