It was formerly called "Sràid na Croiche" from the circumstance that condemned criminals were led that way from the jail to the then place of execution - the Longman. Its present name was given it by the Rev. [Reverend] Mr. Rose, the 2nd Minister of Inverness whose Glebe lay in that locality.
