004 This is an old military road made about a century ago by General Caulfield, who was then governor of Fort George, and constructed with a view to connect that garrison with Inverness and the lowlands. It commences at the turnpike road from Inverness to Nairn, about 3½ miles from the former town, and proceeds, through Resaurie and by Cradlehall, until it joins the road to Culloden Moor, where it catches another old military road. It is at present a good "Statute-Labor" road, and of course repaird by the county.
